Unfortunately, I think you are being far too kind to Chris Cillizza. I suspect that the single biggest factor for why he was willing to admit that he was wrong is because it is now safe to do so. It is easy for him to admit to mistakes now that he's no longer at CNN and his preferred politicians have lost power. I would have been much more wiling to give him praise if he had been willing to admit his faults earlier. Instead, he waited until pretty much the debate was over and there was minimal, if any, personal cost to himself before admitting that he was wrong.
They should now go back and review all of Trump’s alleged lies. Particularly re the Russian collusion hoax. Many mea culpa are still due.
